Looking for a way to compare the states on various performance measures?  One resource that can help with this is States Perform.  This website, from the Council of State Governments, allows users to compare all 50 states on various measures related to fiscal and economic issues, education, transportation, energy and environment, public safety and justice, and health and human services.  For instance you can compare states on their crime rates, renewable energy generation, or percentage of children who are immunized.  You can also view or compare state trends in the data.  If you don’t want to compare, you can select a particular state to view all of its performance measures.  Finally, you can create customizable charts and maps with the data, which can be printed or downloaded in various file formats.

Texas Subsequent History Table Ceases Publication

This week, Thomson Reuters notified subscribers that publication of the Texas Subsequent History Table will be discontinued and no further updates will be produced, due to “insufficient market interest.” Practitioners have been extracting writ (and since 1997, petition) history from the tables since their initial publication in 1917 as The Complete Texas Writs of Error Table . The tables, later published by West, have been used for nearly a century to determine how the Texas Supreme Court or Court of Criminal Appeals disposed of an appeal from an intermediate appellate court. Lessons for Today from the Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda

Kaufman ’s presentation on  Lessons for Today from the Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda  hosted by the  Johannesburg Holocaust & Geno cide Ce ntre .
